Celebrating and decimating pop culture since 1997

Friday Playlist (on Sunday)

This week’s list is so amazing that it couldn’t fit on Friday or Saturday and spilled over into Sunday. Or we forgot to do it. Either way there’s still time to get up, get down and just uurgh! to set the next week right.

Das Racist – “Michael Jackson”

Has enough time passed since the death of MJ for this track from the current kings of goofball rap? Probably not. But just try to watch it and not laugh, you heartless beast!

Tom Waits – “Bad As Me”

We think Tom Waits traded in his smokey piano bar for a haunted house, popped a few tabs of acid and pressed record to come up with this one from his new album Bad As Me, which is out next month.

Slow Club – Two Cousins

This pommy folk duo seem to make some pretty sweet tunes – and their clip for their latest is simply ace. We’ve been practicing the dance moves in the mirror. You should too.

Jeff Tweedy performs the Black Eyed Peas – “I Gotta Feeling”

Lead singer of Wilco with a new take on every schoolie’s favorite song to play on repeat before heading out to Caville Avenue to dance/vomit/fight. Warning: This be funny.

And our classic track for the week is….

Rick James – “Give It To Me Baby”

Almost certainly the funkiest pimp-disco track ever written. The clip is classic Rick and gets you in the mood for coming home intoxicated.
